The 1970 All-Star Game played at Cincinnati’s new Riverfront Stadium was the first to be played at night – but the real news event was Pete Rose’s 12th inning home plate collision with catcher Ray Fosse. The play, which some called “dirty,” non-the less was the winning run as the NL defeated the AL, 5-4. This Spalding Official National League ball was signed by the victorious National League squad and feature 14 Hall of Famers including Willie Mays, Tom Seaver, Roberto Clemente, Johnny Bench, Hank Aaron, Tony Pérez, Gil Hodges, Joe Morgan, Gaylord Perry, Bob Gibson, Willie McCovey, Joe Torre, Hoyt Wilhelm, Leo Durocher plus Pete Rose, Dick Allen, Cito Gaston, Don Kessinger, Wayne Simpson, Claude Osteen, Rico Carty, Denis Menke, Bud Harrelson, Joe Hoerner, Jim Hickman, Jim Merritt, Dick Dietz, Glenn Beckert, Billy Grabarkewitz, and Rusty Staub. All the signatures are in strong black pen and display beautifully against the warm off-white leather. The ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
