Roger Maris Signed 8x10 Photo PSA DNA 10 GEM MINT Auto

$2,999.00

Although remembered mostly for his record-breaking 61 home runs for the 1961 New York Yankees, before illness and injury took their toll, Maris was actually a gem of an all-around right fielder and fittingly presented is a Roger Maris PSA/DNA CERTIFIED "GEM MINT 10" (85854379) signed color photograph. Maris played 12 Major League seasons: Cleveland Indians (1957-58), Kansas City Athletics (1958-59), New York Yankees (1960-66), St. Louis Cardinals (1967-68). He broke Babe Ruth's single-season home run record on the last day of the '61 regular season.

The 3-time World Champion was a 7-time Al-Star and won a Gold Glove Award in 1960. He had a powerful arm and was the AL leader in double plays by a right fielder and outfielder in 1959, the AL leader in fielding percentage by a right fielder in both '60 and '64, and the NL leader in fielding percentage for a right fielder in '67. He was also fast and skilled enough to play center field on the Yankees when Mickey Mantle was hurt.

Th 8x10" color photo depicts Maris, bat poised over his left shoulder, with the famous Yankee Stadium frieze up high in the background. Maris used a blue marker to craft a beautiful signature and an inscription of "Best Wishes." Because Roger Maris passed away in 1985, he did not participate in the rapid expansion of sports shows - with baseball stars signing autographs for lines of paying customers, and thus his autograph is much scarcer than the signatures of many comparable stars of his playing era. The photograph is in EXCELLENT condition.
