1961 American League All-Star Team Multi-Signed Baseball. The 1961 MLB All-Star Game was unique because it was the first season in which Major League Baseball held two All-Star Games (a practice that lasted from 1959-1962 to raise money for the players' pension fund). The first game took place on July 11 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, where the National League defeated the American League 5-4, highlighted by homers from Willie Mays and Eddie Mathews. The second game was held on July 31 at Fenway Park in Boston and ended in a 1-1 tie after nine innings, called due to rain-the first tie in All-Star Game history. Together, the 1961 All-Star Games reflected the abundance of talent in that era, showcasing legends like Mays, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, and Roger Maris at the height of baseball's golden age.
Offered is a baseball signed by 16 members of the American squad. Among them are Roger Maris, Nellie Fox, Al Kaline, Yogi Berra, Hoyt Wilhelm, Jim Bunning, Harmon Killebrew, Whitey Ford, Brooks Robinson, Rocky Colavito, Jackie Brandt and more.
